The following Resource Organizations offer a wide range of programs (mostly free) in support of various health and wellness topics:
The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease, through research, education and advocacy. They focus on five strategic imperatives: to defeat lung cancer; to improve the air we breathe; to reduce the burden of lung disease on individuals and their families; to eliminate tobacco use and tobacco-related diseases; and to accelerate fundraising and enhance organizational effectiveness to support the urgency of our mission.
The American Diabetes Association is committed to supporting corporate Hawaii with programs and services tailored to compliment workplace wellness initiatives through their Stop Diabetes @ Work Program. The program consists of educational sessions that may include: Introduction to diabetes, stress management, physical activity, nutrition, cooking and/or meal-prep demos, etc.
The Center for Disease Control provides science-based information to improve the health, safety, and well-being of employees. Through their Workplace Health Program, they work with employer groups and coalitions, state health agencies, academic institutions, and other key groups to develop, set up, and promote effective strategies for improving the health in the work environment.
Child and Family Service is a family-centered, full-service nonprofit dedicated to "Strengthening families and fostering the healthy development of children." Through nearly 50 programs statewide, they work with those most in need-meeting them where they are, connecting them with the resources they need, and helping them envision and plan a future in which they can live successfully in the community.
The mission of the Hawai'i Psychological Association is to enhance the quality of life for the people of Hawai'i by encouraging, integrating, applying, and communicating the contributions of Psychology in all of its branches. They seek to strengthen public relations, advocate for a psychologically healthy community, and develops solutions for mental health care.
Mental Health America is the nation's leading community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and to promoting the overall mental health of everyone. Their work is driven by their commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all, early identification and intervention for those at risk, and integrated care and treatment for those who need it, with recovery as the goal.
March of Dimes provides a free, educational workplace wellness program that promotes a family-friendly work environment. Healthy Babie Health Business® is easy to manage, implement and promote, and provides companies with a wealth of information to support employees before, during and after their pregnancy.
Paying for Senior Care's mission is to help individuals plan and implement senior care. The website is designed to help families and caregivers locate information about senior care resources for their loved ones, and to find the public and private programs available to assist in covering the cost of such care.
